Background: E74 ike Factor 1 is a transcription factor that may be required for the T-cell receptor mediated activation of HIV2 gene expression. It binds to two purine-rich motifs in the HIV-2 enhancer and transcriptionally activates the LYN and mouse BLK promoters.
